HIGGINSVILLE – Care Connection for Aging Services invites all seniors to Higginsville Senior Center on Jan. 26 for a free “Seniors Fit & Fun” event.
The event will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the senior center, 21st and Walnut. In addition to hands-on games and prizes, Care Connection, an area agency on aging, will provide people with practical information about how to prevent diseases, eat right and get moving during the new year.
The events will take place indoors Games and activities include easy exercises, beach ball basketball, hula hoops, a scarf toss, Bingo, coloring for adults, refreshments, and healthy snacking demonstrations. Game winners will receive prizes, and drawings will take place for prize baskets. A boxed sandwich supper will be available for $5 to those who order in advance.
“We want to get Lafayette County’s seniors up, moving, and healthy. We want them to see some easy, hands-on activities they can use to stay active and prevent common diseases and conditions,” said Rona McNally, Care Connection Director of Special Projects. “Just as important will be an opportunity to see what the senior center has to offer on a regular basis, when it comes to fellowship with peers.”
No reservation is needed to attend; however, boxed suppers must be ordered in advance by calling 660-584-7040.
