SALISBURY – Care Connection for Aging Services invites all seniors to the Salisbury City Park on Thursday, June 16, for a free “Fit & Fun” event.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the park, 209 E. Ninth St. In addition to hands-on games and prizes, Care Connection, an area agency on aging, will provide people with practical information about the preventive benefits that Medicare covers.
Games and activities include tai chi demonstrations, hula hoops, a scarf toss, Bingo, adult coloring, an “Ask a Pharmacist” booth, refreshments and healthy snacking demonstrations. Game winners will receive prizes, and a drawing will take place for a prize basket.
“We want to get Chariton County’s seniors up, moving and healthy. We want them to see some easy, hands-on activities they can use to stay active and prevent common diseases and conditions,” said Rona McNally, Care Connection Director of Special Projects. “Just as important will be a reminder about all the Medicare-covered preventive services – from screenings for diabetes and heart disease to mammograms and colonoscopies.”
The event, which is free and open to the public, is presented in partnership with CLAIM, Missouri’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program. It is supported with financial assistance in whole or in part through a grant from the Administration for Community Living and administered by the Missouri Department of Insurance.
