The four senior centers in Lafayette County are revving up for their fifth annual Bikers 4 Boomers Poker Run. This poker run benefits all four centers in the county – Concordia, Higginsville, Lexington and Odessa – and helps to continue services provided to seniors such as meals, fitness, education and health screenings.
The run will be on Saturday, August 20, and will start with registration along with biscuits and gravy at 7:30 a.m. at the Higginsville Center (101 W. 21st Street). The first bike goes out at 9, and the last bike goes out at 10. The poker run will wind its way to Concordia, Odessa, Lexington and then back to Fairground Park in Higginsville. Players will pick up a card at each stop and judges at the park in Higginsville will determine the winner. No poker experience is necessary.
The high hand will receive $100, and the low hand will receive $75; there are raffles and a lot of door prizes. There is a $25 registration fee ($40 for those riding double), which includes the first hand, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks at each stop, and food in the park after the run. Extra hands can be purchased for $10.
