Care Connection announces its schedule for Medicare open enrollment assistance

Care Connection for Aging Services will offer Medicare Part D prescription and Advantage plan enrollment assistance in its 13-county service area during open enrollment – Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. (See the full schedule below.)
Trained staff members will perform free, one-on-one Part D comparisons and answer questions during the enrollment counseling sessions. For more information or an appointment, call 1-800-748-7826. Enrollees should bring their Medicare cards and a list of current prescriptions.
Care Connection is partnering with CLAIM, Missouri’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program, to provide this service to all people who have Medicare coverage. Medicare counselors can provide people with a customized list of all their Medicare options for the 2018 plan year.
“It’s a good idea to do this annually because your health needs, your prescriptions and the coverage a company provides all may change from year to year,” said Rona McNally, Care Connection Director of Special Projects. “The open enrollment time offers you the chance to review your coverage and the companies you choose, even if you like your current plan.”
During last year’s enrollment, Care Connection counselors were able to save participants a combined $357,000 in prescription costs.
Open enrollment is when people with Medicare can make changes to their health and prescription drug plans for next year. If you switch, the new plan will begin Jan. 1. If you stay with the same plan, any changes to coverage, benefits, or costs will begin Jan. 1.
Care Connection for Aging Services is a non-profit agency serving 13 counties in West Central Missouri – including Bates, Lafayette, Hickory, Cedar, St. Clair, Vernon, Johnson, Pettis, Henry, Benton, Carroll, Chariton and Saline. Its mission is to provide resources and services that empower people to create healthy aging experiences.

• Butler Senior Center, 611 W. Mills St., Butler: Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Cole Camp Senior Center, 206 W. Junge St., Cole Camp: Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Warsaw Senior Center/Harbor Village, 17571 N. Dam Access Road, Warsaw: Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
• Carroll County Senior Center, 200 Lifecare Lane, Carrollton: Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
