More than 600 arrested nationally on charges of health care fraud

Date: June 29, 2018 | Category: News

Care Connection for Aging Services operates the statewide Missouri SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol). The SMP hotline at 1-888-515-6565 takes reports of Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse. The reports that warrant investigation are turned over to authorities, and the SMP most often doesn’t hear about the results. However, that doesn’t mean there are no results. A federal investigation of Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse this month resulted in more than 600 arrests all over the United States.

Reports such as those called into the SMP hotline help authorities detect patterns of fraudulent behavior. Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse costs taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars annually.
