Many seniors who have worked all their lives and taken care of themselves and others find making ends meet a challenge, but our agency may be able to help.
Care Connection operates a “Benefits Enrollment Center” (BEC) through our Care Management program, which is meant to link seniors to potential benefits to help with medical insurance premiums or copays, property tax rebates, and extra help with prescription drugs.
Benefits counselor Penny Humphrey is making the rounds to senior centers and other community events to spread the word about these benefits through Benefits Bingo and the Benefits Wheel games.
The games are a way to educate seniors about the potential benefits in a fun way that offers a chance to win prizes.
The BEC offers screenings and enrollment assistance in many money-saving programs, including Medicaid, MO-Rx prescription assistance, Lifeline Phone and Safelink, Medicare Extra Help and Low-Income Subsidy, Medicare Savings Program, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as food stamps) and the Missouri Property Tax Credit.
If you would like to have a presentation for your civic, church or professional group, call Penny at 1-800-748-7826. If you would like to be screened for assistance, call the senior center nearest you.
