Assistant Cook – Sedalia
6.5 hrs a day, minimum wage
Assist the Head Cook in various aspects of kitchen operation, including storage, preparation, and service of food. Assist in maintaining sanitation of the general kitchen area. Responsible for correct portioning of food items. Ensure that items packaged for home meal delivery are maintained at appropriate temperature and are served in correct portions. Assists in maintaining the daily perpetual inventory system. Pre-prepares menu items as appropriate for upcoming menus. Responsible for ensuring at all times that standards of quality are met. Must abide by all rules and regulations regarding foodservice safety and sanitation as well as all federal, state and local regulations and health codes.
Education: Prefer high school graduate or GED. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the language of the work location. Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations for inventory and ordering purposes.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of one year experience in working in food service oriented establishment. Should be familiar with Dept. of Health Regulations regarding Food Service. Must demonstrate good personal hygiene and knowledge of sanitary procedures.
Physical: Moderately heavy physical labor required. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs. Extensive walking. Must have ability to be on feet for long periods of time and have ability to bend, squat, and reach. Subject to wet floors and extreme changes in noise and temperature. Must have ability to lift 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Requires use of hands for repetitive motions such as chopping, slicing, operating equipment etc.
Legal: Candidate must agree to be screened for inclusion on the Missouri Department of Health Family Care Safety Registry.
Travel: Requires moderate amounts of travel in and out of district. Must have current motor vehicle operator’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. I
