The registration deadline has been extended for “Mind over Matter,” a free course especially for women, to offered in person at the Warrensburg Senior Center and on online. The first two-hour class will be on May 22.

The program has been proven to help women build the skills and confidence to avoid or improve symptoms of incontinence (bladder and bowel leakage). Care Connection, which operates the senior center, will offer the course in person and on a secure Zoom class. The classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 22, June 5, and June 19. The in-person class will be offered at the center, 445 E. Gay, Suite 128.

Mind over Matter is tailored for women 60 or older, who are living independently, and who have experienced bladder and/or bowel issues or want to prevent them. To register online, visit www.goaging.org/events or call 1-800-748-7826.

Attendance at all three sessions is required. Participants will learn strategies for preventing or improving incontinence. Topics covered include understanding how the bladder, bowels, and pelvic floor muscles work together; building confidence to set and achieve goals; learning to do low-impact pelvic floor muscle exercises (Kegels); adjusting fluid and fiber intake to improve bladder and bowel function; and seeking care from health professionals for solutions.
